Who and what is Dark Ridge Creations?
Hello my name is Donna Smith and I am the owner and the designer of Dark Ridge Creations.
The name Dark Ridge Creations came about after we purchased land in New Mexico. Because our land is located on a ridge
at an elevation of 7100 feet in the dark skies of New Mexico the name Dark Ridge came about naturally. We then named the property
Dark Ridge Ranch and of course Dark Ridge Creations just followed suit. We are located in Weed, New Mexico and are proud to
say:
"Handcrafted in Weed, NM"
Weed is one of many small communities located in the Sacramento Mountains
of New Mexico. My husband and I moved to the area in April 2007 to pursue our dreams. My dream was to devote full-time
attention to my passions. Those passions are working with beads, wire, precious metals, polymer clay, French beaded flowers
and paper crafts such as paper quilling (filigree) and crafts in general. Also the other dream was to start a small bead &
craft store selling supplies for beading, wire work, polymer clay and quilling supplies. My husbands dream was to enlarge
and expand his observatory, Dark Ridge Observatory, which was founded in 2003 for the purpose of scientific research and education in
the area of astronomy and space science. We received 501(c)(3) non-profit status in March 2007. To learn more about Dark

I am currently involved with 3 friends in running a small gallery in Weed that we
proudly call " Weed Gallery and Gifts". It is located right next door to the Weed Cafe. We are open most every
Saturday in the summer months from 10:00 until 3:00. So if you are in the area come visit us and at have lunch at the
Weed Cafe. Great Food!
